MEET THE VETERINARIANS
Florence Erdmann was born in London, England and grew up on the West Island, graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montreal. Dr. Erdmann has been a veterinarian at Pierrefonds Animal Hospital since 1999 and, with her other partners, helped oversee the development and construction of the new hospital that opened in October 2013. Her professional interests are care for companion animals and diagnostic ultrasound. She is active in the community, serving as one of the veterinarians for Rosie's AnimalAdoption, SOS Greyhound rescue and regularly appearing on Global Montreal's 'Morning News' to discuss topics related to animal health and welfare. She lives in the West Island with her husband, children and dogs.
Dr. Dunbar has a diploma in Animal Science from the Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture, and a BSC from the University of Guelph. She graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 from the Ontario Veterinary College. From Nova Scotia, she began her career at the Darmouth Veterinary Hospital, then moved to Montreal where she eventually became an owner of the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital.
Dr. Violaine de Montigny graduated from the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the University of Montreal in 1996, and has worked at Pierrefonds Animal Hospital ever since. With a penchant for business as well as animal care, she undertook and completed an MBA from l’École des hautes études commerciales, in 2000. She divides her time between hospital administration and caring for the medical needs of dogs, cats and small furry mammals. When not working, she can be found with her two children or actively pursuing outdoor sports such as running, cycling and skiing.
Dr. Duguay hails from New Brunswick, where she completed her bachelor with a specialization in Biology, followed by Veterinary Medicine studies at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the University of Montréal, at St-Hyacinthe. She has been an invaluable member of the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital team for over 8 years. Dr. Duguay is the lucky owner of three mischievous cats - Rose, Nicky and Charlot – that she has rescued and welcomed into her family.
Graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College of Guelph University in 1990, Dr. Anne-Marie Masse has been with Pierrefonds Animal Hospital since 1991. She has a particular interest in your feline friends, as evidenced by her membership with the American Association of Feline Practitioners. These days she shares special moments with her 8 year old cat Nala, who loves to be pampered by endless brushing – life is good!
Dr. Anita Cuisinier grew up on a polo horse ranch in rural South Australia, and completed a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours prior to her Veterinary Science degree at Sydney University in 2009. She has called Pierrefonds Animal Hospital her home away from home since joining the team in February 2012. She is particularly passionate about surgery, but has a soft spot for exotics (birds, hedgehogs and hamsters in particular) and ex-racing greyhounds. In her spare time, Dr. Cuisinier works at the SPCA and fosters sick stray cats.
Born and raised in Lac-St-Jean, Dr. Gilbert graduated from the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the University of Montreal in 2005, after having completed ecology and environment studies prior to her veterinary degree. Her passion for veterinary medicine led her to an Internship in Applied Veterinary Sciences for companion animals, also at the University of Montreal, during which she developed her competency in surgery and ophthalmology in particular. Whilst still at veterinary school, Dr. Gilbert co-founded an international veterinary welfare project,
Dr. Goldenberg obtained her Veterinary Medicine diploma from the University of Montreal in 2011. She then completed a year-long internship to expand her medical and surgical knowledge at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey, before joining the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital team in 2012. Dr. Goldenberg has a special interest in surgery, as well as animal behaviour. She is also passionate about exotic animal medicine, and loves to care for pets with feathers, fur or scales! At home, Dr. Goldenberg lives with Motek, a sweet little parrotlet.
Dr. Bourduas was born and raised in Montreal. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from l’Universitéde Montréal in 2003. She then pursued further studies in Neurobiology at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario before moving to Perth, Australia to complete her studies in veterinary medicine. She has been a part of the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital team since 2010. Dr. Bourduas provides compassionate care to small and large dogs and cats, purebreds, mixed breeds, hamsters, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits.
Dr. Naomi Dicks graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph where she worked at the Teaching Hospital following completion of her degree in 2008. Originally from the West Island of Montreal, Dr. Dicks returned to Quebec in 2009 to join our team. Over the past years, Dr. Dicks has developed a special interest in preventive medicine, internal medicine, as well as ultrasound. She also organises volunteer sterilization clinics through the hospital for stray and abandoned cats. When not at the clinic, Dr. Dicks studies at McGill University where she is completing a Masters degree in Animal Science. She also enjoys road biking, travelling and spending time with her Golden Retriever Louie, and her two cats César and Batman.
Dr. Laplante obtained her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Montreal in 2001. Throughout her studies, she completed multiple placements with birds and exotic pets, her primary passion, including birds of prey. She joined the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital team in 2003, where she set up the bird and exotics medicine and surgery service. She works tirelessly at developing this special department, whilst simultaneously continuing her work with dogs and cats. An avid traveller and humanitarian,
Dr. Lawlor graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal in 1971. He remains impassioned by the veterinary field and companion animal care, and has had the perseverance to participate in the founding and management of four veterinary clinics and two hospitals. His favourite past-time is boating and navigation.
Originally from Disraeli in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, Dr. Charbonneau completed his studies in Quebec and in St-Hyacinthe. Graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal in 1971, he is one of the founders of Pierrefonds Animal Hospital. Throughout his years of practice, he has developed an interest in gerontology. After more than 33 years as a companion animal veterinarian, Dr. Charbonneau is still just as passionate about his work and the well-being of his patients. When at home, he is watched over by his friend Kayak, an adopted Husky.
Dr. Kasuto started his veterinary career as a volunteer at the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital while completing his Bachelor's degree at McGill University in Animal Biology. He then continued to work at the hospital as a technician’s assistant during his studies in veterinary medicine at the University of Montreal. In 2007, Dr. Kasuto graduated from veterinary school and moved to Ottawa where he spent 6 1/2 years as an emergency/ICU clinician at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital, working hand in hand with multiple veterinary specialists and gaining experience in the field.
